What is our "next generation" mobility future? HCAOG is assessing if, how, and when new technologies can serve our region, and how they could supplement existing transportation services to give people more convenient and more sustainable transportation options.
Mobility-on Demand Strategic Development Plan (Adopted September 2020)
Project Background - Ride hailing. Ridesharing. Micro-transit. Volunteer driver programs. Bikeshare. Electric scooters. Automated vehicles. Electronic tolling on bridges, or electronic fares on buses... These are the types of travel options referred to in the trendy catch-phrase “mobility on demand.” New data technologies have renewed or expanded these travel options. HCAOG is assessing if, how, and when such MoD services would serve our region, and how they could supplement existing transportation services to give people more convenient and more sustainable transportation options. Project tasks include: visioning from community input and feedback; assessing existing service; determining and verifying need and feasibility; exploring public-private partnerships, reviewing findings with community/stakeholders, identifying priorities with community/stakeholders. The project timeline is from fall 2018 to June 2020. IBI Group and Trillium Transit Solutions are consultants on this project.
