Coordinated Public Transit - Human Services Transportation Plan (2008)

This Coordinated Public Transit - Human Services Transportation Plan for Humboldt County is sponsored by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). It is part of a larger planning effort overseen by Caltrans on behalf of 23 rural (non-urbanized) counties within the State of California. These rural counties are eligible for certain federal funds for transportation improvements; having an adopted coordinated plan allows Humboldt jurisdictions to access those funds.
Projects identified in a coordinated plan are intended to improve the mobility of individuals who are disabled, elderly, or of low-income status. This plan focuses on identifying needs specific to those population groups as well as on strategies to meet their needs.
The Plan covers the demographic profile, existing public transit service and social service transportation providers, service gaps and unmet transportation needs, strategies to address service gaps and criteria to evaluate and prioritize strategies, and an implementation plan.
